A first: the legendary ‘Bund’ military strap has been redesigned in rubber to become a true diver’s strap.The leather ‘Bund’ strap was created during the Great War (1914-1918) to prevent contact between watch cases and the skin. The metal used to manufacture watches could cause allergic reactions.
They became popular during the Vietnam War, when American soldiers used them frequently.
Although quite a common watch accessory today, this style of strap had never been developed in rubber for underwater use.
